Everyone's a specialist these days, it seems--doctors, auto mechanics, writers, even skydivers and horseback riders. When it comes to publishing either in print or online, my specialty is bridging the gaps between the specialists to coordinate a powerful publishing team. I speak the language of editors and writers as well as programmers, and my goal is to maximize efficiency of communication and resources to get the job done right the first time.
Of course I've got subject matter specialties like anyone, including horse health (based on a lifetime of equine experience and a bachelor's degree in Equine Science) and skydiving (based on more than 10 years of devotion to my favorite hobby).
Here's a bit more about my qualifications:
- Education: BS in Equine Science from the University of Kentucky, MS in Agricultural Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
- Employment: Associate editor at Lessiter Publications, 1999-2000; Managing editor of The Horse: Your Guide to Equine Health Care, 2000-2006
- Skills: Creative/technical writing, editing, print layout, web design, web analytics, web management, horse care, competitive skydiving, comic relief.
- Published in: The Horse: Your Guide to Equine Health Care, The Blood-Horse, American Farriers Journal, Horse Care, Parachutist
- Work examples
- Website design/management: TheHorse.com (winner of the American Horse Publications Electronic Publication award in 2002, 2nd in 2005), AmericanHorsePublications.org, SkydiveSpaceland.com
- Writing/editing: In The Horse (AHP General Excellence Award in 2006, Honorable Mention 2007), The Blood-Horse
What can I do for your publication or website? I look forward to discussing that with you!
